     Use small gas-powered machines (e.g., mowers, snow-blowers, chainsaws and leaf-blowers) less often or for shorter periods of time. Perform maintenance regularly so that it operates at its optimum (e.g., sharpen blades). When you are ready to purchase a new item , consider a manual appliance or a new generation machine with a less-polluting system.
